All coaches at Shenderey gymnastics are nationally certified. They are here to assist each gymnast to reach her maximum potential, and they recognize that each child is ultimately responsible for her own success, involvement, and progress.
Our coaches are dedicated and passionate about providing top quality training in a technically sound and safe manner for all of our athletes. Our coaches take responsibility to ensure that every child develops good physical skills and is taken to her fullest potential. We strive to create a family-oriented atmosphere where our athletes will develop a lifetime of memories.

Meet our leadership
Alanna Kerler
Head Coach / Director
Alanna Kerler is the Head Coach and driving force behind Shenderey Gymnastics, leading the club for over 26 years. With more than 36 years of elite coaching experience, she oversees all club streams and directs the High Performance, National, and Provincial programs. Alanna is widely respected for her technical expertise, innovative choreography, and long-term athlete development philosophy. She has developed over 14 NCAA athletes and numerous provincial and national champions, and has served as a Team Coach for both Ontario and Canada. Her leadership continues to shape a culture of excellence, integrity, and opportunity.
Chris Hanley
Competitive Coach
With over 30 years of coaching experience, Chris Hanley has become an integral part of our coaching staff. He has been instrumental in raising the competitive level of our gym. Strength and flexibility training is an important part of our atheletes conditioning program. Chris is responsible for the design and implementation of these programs as well as our competition programing. We are proud to have athletes now competing on the world stage. Chris is currently coaching our High Performance, National and Provincial level gymnasts. Chris has amassed numerous champions in both mens and womens gymnastics, as well as power tumbling and trampoline. He has also represented Canada at many national and international competitions. Chris previously sat on the Men’s Technical committee.
Liz Dicker-Mati
Competitive Coach
Liz has been an essential part of our competitive team. With over 18 years of competitive coaching experience at Shenderey Gymnastics and over 30 years of coaching, she has worked with a wide range of ages and abilities. Her expertise has been a huge part of the success of our team. She has had numerous Provincial Champions and event Champions. She is also known for her choreography and has won many awards for her creativity.
Breanna Badger
Operations Manager / Competitive Coach
Breanna is one of our most dedicated coaches with over five years of experience working with pre-competitive and compulsory program athletes. Having been part of the club since she was 7 years old, she brings deep program knowledge and commitment while also serving as the club’s main administrator, supporting smooth operations and athlete development.
Viktoriya Khalyavka
Competitive Coach
Graduated from the Sevastopol Youth Sports School of the USSR with a Master’s Degree in Acro Tumbling, and holds a Fitness, Nutrition, and Health Coach diploma from Simferopol State University. A former Ukrainian National Champion with over 25 years of coaching experience, she has led numerous Ontario Champions with discipline, passion, and high performance standards

Cody MacDonald
Competitive Coach
Cody is a highly experienced gymnastics coach with over 15 years of coaching across men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics and tumbling. A former national-level men’s artistic and tumbling athlete, he earned a silver medal overall at Canadian Nationals and brings elite competitive insight to athlete development.
Eleanor Mak
Competitive Coach
Eleanor has over 10 years of recreational and competitive coaching experience ranging from 18 months up to adulthood. She was a provincial and national gymnast and has represented Team Ontario. Eleanor has her Women’s Artistic Foundations Certification, Foundations Trampoline, and is Competition WAG 1 Trained. Additionally, she is a Gymnastics Ontario Judge. Eleanor has a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education from the University of Toronto and a Masters in Physiotherapy from Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK. She is also working as a pediatric physiotherapist specializing in working with kids with congenital disabilities.
Emily Hunchuck
Competitive Coach
Emily has been part of our club since she was 7 years old, growing up through the program and developing a strong love for the sport. After retiring from competition, she is now beginning her coaching career, bringing firsthand experience, dedication, and passion to the next generation of athletes.
Tamara Evans
Recreational / Preschool Coach
Tamara is a high school physical education teacher. She is a level two gymnastics and trampoline coach. Tamara has been coaching gymnastics for 23 years. She has experience in gymnastics, acrobatics and other forms of dance.
Zoe Hounsell-Gill
Competitive Coach
She has been part of our club since she was young, progressing through the program to reach high-level provincial competition. After retiring from competition, she is now beginning her coaching career bringing firsthand experience, technical knowledge, and a strong commitment to developing and inspiring young athletes
